'Little Nanay' and more KMJS stories that touched, inspired people in 2017
For all the flak social media gets for the rise of fake news, the fact that it brings people together often gets overlooked.
This 2017, millions and millions of people logged on to watch the #KMJSExclusives online and found themselves engaged in the stories that otherwise would have been left untold.
Over 33 million people were introduced to Mandy, a 12-year-old who takes care of her siblings as a "Little Nanay."
Millions also met a mom who lost all of her children to cancer; her story continues to touch viewers.
"By merely watching it, ang sakit sakit na. Ramdam mo iyong pain, at the same time, the love for God and how strong their mother is," Pamela Magday said in a comment left on Facebook.
There was also the rare case of the Nortega twins, who are conjoined in the head but continues to try and live like normal kids, attending school, learning how to swim, and having fun. Their story captured 25.8 million viewers.
About 23.6 million people were touched with the homecoming story of filmmaker Jojo de Caretet. Thirty years ago, he got lost in a fire, was brought to an adoption house by a jeepney, and after two years, was adopted by an Australian parents who gave him a new and better life. He came back to the Philippines last year to try and find his mother.
Finally, there was Rolando, whose story has inspired some 14 million people. His Parkinson's Disease hasn't stopped Rolando from putting and providing for his family. makes sure he is able to provide for his family.
