UP warns against 'fake news' of UPCAT results
The University of the Philippines has issued a warning against possible "fake news" items related to results of its entrance test.
In a Facebook post, the UP System Office of Admissions said "the results will be released sometime March - April."
"Having a range of dates for release of results is the usual practice of schools like UP that have a very large number of applicants, and require strict validation of results with a different test every year," it said.
"The UP Office of Admissions had set its UPCAT2018 timelines in consideration of many applicants' concerns regarding submission of documents, the implementation of Grade 12 & revision of program curricula, and UP's August school opening," it added.
It noted concerns of some parents and applicants related to the practice of other schools of requiring reservation fees before enrollment, but said UP does "not have the authority to change the policies of other universities."
Ut also noted that tuition for undergraduate programs for the upcoming school year will be free in accordance with the Free Tuition Act. —JST, GMA News
