Chito Miranda shares inspiration for ‘Friendzone Mo Mukha Mo’
If you're losing heart over being friendzoned, Parokya ni Edgar vocalist Chito Miranda has some wise words for you.
On Instagram, Chito Miranda shared what inspired the song ‘Friendzone Mo, Mukha Mo’ off the 2016 “Pogi Years Old” album: an old awkward Instagram post from 2015, about how his relationship with his wife Neri Naig developed.
“Eto yung pinost ko dati na naging inspiration ko para masulat yung kantang Friendzone Mo Mukha mo”, Chito began before adding “nagustuhan ko kasi yung sinabi ko sa caption kaya naisip ko gawan ng kanta haha”.
The result is an easygoing alternative ditty that had very honest lyrics about a dude forcing his way out of the friendzone by properly courting the lady he likes.
On the 2018 post, Chito thoughtfully included the lyrics to the song. Read our favorite: “hindi ko hahayaan na maging hadlang ang dahilan na tayo ay magkaibigan. Sa totoo, tingin ko ay di yun rason…maganda nga na friendshihp an gating foundation.”
On his old 2015 post, Chito shared how he courted Neri. They started out as friends “pero ayoko ng ‘friends lang. Di ako papaya na ‘tropa’ lang kami.”
It’s a cute love story, if a little naughty — we love this line: Gusto ko ako lang ang hahalik sa lips niya. It echoes of old fashioned gentlemanly ways, and dripping with so much honest love and affection.
So back to those friendzoned. Start listening to the song and take heart.
