Ryan Cayabyab shows a scene from the UP Fair some 40 years ago

Ryan Cayabyab painted quite a romantic picture of the UP Fair from some 40 years ago.

On Twitter, the maestro shared a black and white photo of a scene of the fair, showing himself as a member of a string quartet performing in front of the Sunken Garden.

“Galing sa baul ng mga alaala,” Cayabyab began, saying the quartet was performing in front of UP Law, “sa harap din ng Sunken Garden” and it can’t be any more different from how we know UP fair to be.

These days, the annual university event is almost synonymous to a massive rock concert where every night for one week, big-named bands perform till the wee hours in the morning.

Sandwich, in fact, just celebrated its 20th birthday at the UP Fair Wednesday night!
