19-year-old girl in viral post succumbs to cancer

The 19-year-old student who figured in a viral Facebook post due to her fighting spirit despite having cancer died on Saturday.

Maxine Blanco passed away on Saturday according to her boyfriend Gab Sta. Ana.

"Max fought hard and I'm thankful for everything. No more pain, no more suffering. She might [have] left us, but her spirit will always be here. I love you Maxine," Sta. Ana wrote on Facebook.

A Facebook page dedicated to Blanco, Live Life to the Max, also confirmed her passing away.

Blanco had osteo sarcoma or bone cancer. 

Netizens were inspired by her unwavering fighting spirit, shown by her drive to still go to school despite the side effects of chemotherapy.

"Just know that I will never stop walking our path and living life to the max. I may have cancer, but cancer will never EVER have me," Blanco said.

Sta. Ana has shared on Facebook their love story which began when they were in Grade 8 and continued until they were in college at the University of Sto. Tomas.

Blanco was to turn 20 years old this month with a party scheduled on March 31 at Club Filipino, according to Live Life to the Max Facebook page. —KG, GMA News
