Instead of sulking and complaining, Catriona Gray made use of the free time that the black out in New York City allowed her, and did an impromptu Q&A with her fans.

We learned quite a lot from Cat through the Q&A — her favorite Ariana Grande song (NASA and In My Head), the last album she listened to in full (Divinely Uninspired to a Hellish Extent by Lewis Capaldi).

But because it’s Catriona, she served several beautiful truths and encouraging words for her followers. We thought we’d put them here for everyone’s convenience, including ours.

1. “It’s never, ever okay to put someone down for the sake of ‘expressing your opinion’.”

When asked what her stand is on online bullying and body shaming, Cat said she was against it be it online or off. And then that beautiful sentence: “It’s never, ever okay to put someone down for the sake of “expressing your opinion.” Read her complete answer here:

2. “You are so much more than your body!”

When a netizen confessed to Cat that she was “a fat girl” having “trouble loving the way she was,” Cat gave a loving reminder: “You are your mind and your unique talents and your character and your life experiences and your personality! You are so so much more than the exterior!”

3. “Make an informed decision”

We love how Cat dished out such logical advice to a netizen asking for an advice for “someone who is afraid to take a risk.” It’s a truth that we often overlook: We have to make informed decisions. She added, “you’ll never know unless you try,” citing her joining a national pageant was one.

4. “If I don’t understand why I’m down, then I can’t get over it”

To the netizen who asked Cat how she keeps going even on bad days, the Miss Universe 2018 said she actually needs to let it all out — cry, write down “so I can process, because if I don’t understand why I’m down, then I can’t get over it.”

5. “Confidence isn’t something you’re born with”

When asked how to be confident, Cat likened confidence to a muscle “that you have to decide to use it and it strengthens the more you work on it. So continue to work on yourself, embrace your uniqueness and be kind and positive!”

6. “We’re all works in progress”

On overcoming insecurities, Cat said “insecurities will always be there, but your ability to work past them is what you can work on.”

7. “Do all things with love”

The question came from a locked account, but Catriona quoting such a beautiful bible phrase is the reminder we’ll need entering a busy week: We must do all things with love.

8. "It will get better"

When asked what advice she'd give to a person still struggling up to now, Cat gave a quiet assurance. "It will get better," she promised. "Just have faith and stay true to the ambition in your heart. It's there for a reason."
