Mocha Uson washes hands off anti-Vico post

Mocha Uson posted on Twitter Thursday afternoon, clarifying it wasn't her who wrote the anti-Vico Sotto post that appeared on the Mocha Uson Blog Facebook page Wednesday night.

"FYI, Mocha Uson Blog is now composed of different bloggers and admins. We practice free speech though we differ in opinions on different matters. So, saying that I am against VICO SOTTO is FAKE NEWS since it was posted by another admin. I hope this clears everything," wrote the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration official.

All through Wednesday, netizens couldn't help but admire the Pasig Mayor for being on top of the COVID-19 situation in his city.

Vico had come up with progressive solutions, like setting up a mobile kitchen for medical workers, sanitation tents outside city hall, bus services for healthcare workers, even going against the national government's enhanced community quarantine guidelines to allow tricycle drivers to ply the roads of Pasig and help transport healthcare workers and those who needed medical treatment.

While the Palace immediately rebuffed Vico's tricycle solution, netizens were quick to show support for the first-time mayor, when an anti-Vico post appeared on Mocha's Facebook page.

Shortly thereafter, the #ProtectVico hashtag trended on Philippine Twitter, claiming the top spot of trending topics all throughout Thursday.

On Facebook, Vico replied to a netizen, who advised him to ignore the trolls.

Telling the netizen he had no time to fight trolls, Vico said "We are just trying to do our best to save lives."

He added, "Alam niyo naman po wala ako troll farm. Kayo na po bahalang tulungan ang pasig para di mabahala/malito ang mga pasigueño sa mga trolls. SALAMAT PO."

Enhanced community quarantine has been in place all throughout Luzon since Tuesday to combat the COVID-19 threat. As of Thursday afternoon, the DOH has reported 217 cases in the Philippines. — LA, GMA News
