Twitter suspends accounts pushing pro-Duterte hashtags -report

Twitter has suspended hundreds of accounts which defended President Rodrigo Duterte's response to the spread of COVID-19 and its effects on the country's economy, the Washington Post reported on Thursday.

The accounts were said to have violated Twitter’s platform manipulation and spam policies.

Examples of these violations include posting duplicate content across multiple accounts, creating duplicate or multiple accounts, and sending large numbers of unsolicited replies or mentions, the Post said, quoting Twitter.

Sought for confirmation and comment, Twitter said it was the Washington Post which first reached out and there was nothing further it could share on record.

It did say that it had "zero-tolerance for platform manipulation."

According to Twitter, the power of a uniquely open service during a public health emergency was clear.

It added that to support this mission, its global trust & safety team was continuing its zero-tolerance approach to platform manipulation and any other attempts to abuse our service at this critical juncture. -NB, GMA News
