Gloc-9 dominates YouTube with 'Halik' and '24 bars rap challenge'
Gloc-9 has been dominating YouTube with his performance of "Halik" and his take on the "24 bars rap challenge."
His "Halik" video with fellow rapper and songwriter Flow G, uploaded on March 27, had reached no. 1 on YouTube's trending videos chart.
As of writing, it has reaped over seven million views on YouTube and is currently no. 28 on the trending list. It was in the Top 20 for three weeks.
Gloc-9 had released the single "Halik" earlier in the year.
Meanwhile, the rapper's take on the "24 bars rap challenge," uploaded on March 30, peaked at no. 4 with over a million views in less than a week after its release.
According to a statement, Gloc-9 is currently raising funds to aid frontliners and urban poor communities through various charitable institutions and artist initiatives.
Gloc-9 decided to go independent with management and production house "Asintada" which is headed by his own wife Thea Gomez Pollisco.
Thea said through YouTube, Gloc-9 is also "reaching out to the fans and followers by providing entertainment and positivity in a time of uncertainty."
She added that his husband made it clear to "work on projects that matter to him on a personal level, and at the same time, promote awareness on the plight of the underprivileged Filipinos through his musical platform."
Aside from Gloc-9, other OPM artists including the nine-piece collective Ben&Ben are continuously entertaining their fans online amid the enhanced community quarantine.
President Rodrigo Duterte placed enhanced community quarantine on March 17 to help contain the spread of the virus. It has been extended until April 30.
