Tricycle driver is now a proud dad of a dentist, pharmacist

Father's Day may be over, but that did not stop a woman from paying tribute to her dad who supported her through college with his earnings as a tricycle driver.

In a Facebook post, Marga Suobiron proudly shared that she and her sister finished their degrees on dentistry and pharmacy thanks to their father's sacrifices.

Her dad would work on the farm in the mornings before driving them to school and picking up passengers in his tricycle.

"Kada kita niya sa pasada nilalagay niya 'yung titig 5 peso-coins sa ibabaw ng drawer.  Iniipon niya. Then pag may babayaran sa school dun siya kumukuha," she said.

Marga said she initially wanted to be a flight attendant, but her father told her to pursue dentistry instead. She and her mother did not agree at first because they could not afford it.

Her dad, however, was determined to do everything for her education.

"Sabi ng papa ko: 'Okay lang 'yan, mag-enroll ka.  Kaya natin 'yan. Pagsisikapan ko yan!' And he did," she said.

Once, she had to ask P20,000 for her dentistry materials. Her father simply said yes and did not complain.

"Alam ko 'yung hirap ng tatay ko kakapamasada.  Mainit, maulan, may bagyo o wala,  alam ko ang hirap ng isang tricycle driver," she said. "Alam ko kasi nakikita ko ang tatay ko."

Her dad has a degree in marine engineering, but he chose to be a tricycle driver instead of seeking greener pastures abroad. He did it so he could be there for his children while they were growing up.

Marga could not be more thankful to have him as her dad.

"My father is a farmer and a tricycle driver and he's my real life superhero. Nothing can change that. To Papa, at sa lahat ng tricycle drivers, saludo kami sa inyo!" she said. —MGP, GMA News
