Who is Auntie Julie and why is she trending on Twitter?

Macoy Dubs over the weekend created impressions of a very specific sub-genre of titas of Manila and Auntie Julie turned out to be the biggest hit among netizens.

Auntie Julie is the pearl-wearing, progressive tita that the genius vlogger drew up and animated into existence. It began on Saturday, where Macoy introduced Auntie Julie as "your ninang from Poveda" with a video that showed him in character meeting her inaanak Cassandra after a long time.

"You have a boyfriend?" She asks like the cool tita we all know and love. But Macoy ups the game by having Auntie Julie remind Cassandra to "tell your boyfriend to use protection ha? Of course we want you to be responsible teenagers."

Auntie Julie then remembers her high school days, when she and her friends dated boys from La Salle and Xavier.

But Auntie Julie is more than just a cool tita. Macoy uploaded a follow-up video on Auntie Julie, this time showing her billing out from Cafe Mary Grace, running into Eduardo, the son of her amiga Pia from Poveda, and pairing him up with her own son Robert, aka Bert.

The video has tickled a good number of people, too. As of writing, it's generated nearly 400,000 views, 30K likes and more than 5K retweets.

Why wouldn't Auntie Julie be a hit? She is familiar with Grindr, the online dating app for the LGBT+ community, is very candid with Eduardo, and seem to love and accept her gay son Bert.

So popular is Auntie Julie that on Monday morning, Macoy Dubs posted another material on her.
