J.K. Rowling slammed as new book features ‘transvestite’ serial killer
J.K. Rowling is facing a new wave of backlash for her newest novel that features a male serial killer who dresses up as a woman.
According to a review in The Telegraph, “Troubled Blood” deals with the cold case of a woman who disappeared in 1974 and is believed to be the victim of Dennis Creed, “a transvestite serial killer.”
The novel, which is the fifth installment of Rowling’s Cormoran Strike series written under her pseudonym Robert Galbraith, was released Tuesday.

Vanity Fair pointed out that “transvestite" is considered an outdated and derogatory term for cross-dressing.
The report also cited The Telegraph review that says: “One wonders what critics of Rowling’s stance on trans issues will make of a book whose moral seems to be: never trust a man in a dress.”
Meanwhile, the New York Post reported that #RIPJKRowling rose to the top of the Twitter trending charts as netizens lambasted “Troubled Blood” and Rowling’s apparent anti-trans opinions that found its way to its pages.
