Young student says no to gender stereotypes on worksheet
Come on guys, it's 2020! And it looks like this little girl knows it.
Netizen Dianne Agura couldn't help but express her pride when her youngest sibling broke a gender stereotype while answering a worksheet.
Dianne said she has been tutoring her sister, Ayesha, with her modules and that she left her to answer an Araling Panlipunan module to get snacks.
When she returned, she checked the worksheet which instructed the student to encircle toys meant for girls, and box toys meant for boys.
Ayesha had encircled and boxed all the choices.
Just wanna share this pic because I'm really just so proud of the way she thinks about these things and concept despite...

Explaining her answers, she said, "Ate, ang laruan, laruan kasi. Pwede naman lahat 'yan sa babae at sa lalake eh. Ako nga diba naglalaro naman ng kotse kotse han at dinosaur, lalaki ba ako? Diba hindi naman? Edi pwede to sa babae. Parang damit Ate diba?, pag ang lalaki nagdamit ng dress, hindi naman bakla agad? Eto talaga si Ate hindi marunong."
Dianne said she felt ashamed that she had initially told her sister that her answers were wrong, and that even if her teacher marked it as wrong, she'd still be "very proud of her answers."
"Akalain mo 'yun, in that young mind she had broken one gender stereotype na we often took for granted and treat it like it's a non significant issue kasi it's just the way it is," she said.
"Sobrang na-aamaze lang talaga ako kasi these are not the usual answers of a Kinder/Grade 1 student. Ang lawak lang ng tingin nya sa mga bagay na ganun. I am really a proud sister," she added. —JCB, GMA News
