A hardcore American rock band called Converge is reminding everybody on social media that they are not Converge ICT, a telco provider in the Philippines that recently came under fire for a network-wide service interruption.

On Facebook, the band posted a screenshot where Filipino netizens are scoring some commenters for airing their frustrations towards the Philippine telco on the band’s comment section.

“Ang bobo niyo bat dito kayo nagrereklamo mga bobo!” one commenter said.

“Hindi naman ito yung converge na internet,” said another.

Despite the hate being thrown their way by mistake, Converge addressed the situation with a friendly statement reminding everyone that they are not the Philippine telco.

“Hey everyone... still just a hardcore band over here. Covid has not forced us to become an internet provider in the Philippines yet, but we hope everyone over there gets their internet access back,” Converge wrote.

“While you’re here though click the link to our webstore and grab yourself a cool T-shirt or something [laugh emojis],” it added.

The band's post has been shared more than 7,000 times and garnered reactions from more than 21,000 Facebook users since posting last January 16.

Converge ICT came under fire last November after experiencing a massive network disruption that left its subscribers across the Philippines without access to the internet for nearly a day.

If you enter “converge” on the Facebook search bar, the band Converge’s page would be one of the top results. Among their most popular songs include the 11-minuter "Jane Doe." — Margaret Claire Layug/LA, GMA News
