This TikToker is so flexible he can move like he has no bones
While some people are not gifted with flexibility, there are others who are overflowing with it. One of them is 20-year-old TikTok user Edrian Gamboa.
As seen on Kuya Kim’s “24 Oras” report Wednesday, Edrian can move every part of his body like he has no bones and that includes his neck or his throat, thus his nickname “Lalamunan King.”
Apart from using his own arms as jumping rope, he can also turn his head almost 180 degrees and not feel a hint of pain. How does he do this?
According to orthopedic surgeon Dr. Wesson Pious Espiritu, this may be due to various reasons.
“Females are more flexible than males. ’Pag nanganganak sila, nag-eexpand yung pelvis nila. Pwede rin naman due to practice. ’Yung mga nagma-martial arts, they can kick above the head,” he said.
“Dahil ’yon sa repeated practice pero at the most extreme, it has something to do with the genetics. Ang mga litid, muscle natin, merong collagen. Depending do’n sa quality ng collagen, nagiging hyperflexible.”
While hyperflexible people may seem like they can do anything, Espiritu still reminded them to be careful.
“We have limits sa range of motion. If we go beyond that, puwedeng magkaroon ng certain injury in the long run. Puwede ring magkaroon ng mga micro trauma,” he said.
Meanwhile, some people make the most of their being hyperflexible by turning to entertainment. Professional performers who showcase for an audience their fluid movements by twisting and bending their body parts are called contortionists. – Franchesca Viernes/RC, GMA News
