Viral working student who took exam amid food deliveries receives scholarship offers
A working student who went viral after taking an exam amid food deliveries received two scholarship offers for being an inspiration to many netizens.
As seen on Mariz Umali's report on "24 Oras," Monday, Jayson Bangayan caught everyone's attention when a photo of him busy with his phone while waiting for his food orders was posted online.
The assistant manager of the fast food restaurant he was at that time said he got curious as to why the delivery rider wasn't leaving his orders. It turned out that he was finishing an exam for school.
"Nag-pick up ako ng pagkain para sa dalawang customer then sabi 20 minutes bago matapos ang food then sabi ko, malapit na 'yung oras ng exam. Sabi ko kaya naman pala tapusin," he said.
("I picked up food for two customers then it said that the food will take 20 minutes. My exam was near so I just thought that I'll be able to finish it on time.")
"Sinabay ko na 'yung exam ko po no'n habang naghihintay po ng pagkain [I did the exam while I waited for the food]," he added.
Jayson, 22, said he informed his customers beforehand of the exam and even got a "good luck."
Aside from netizens, Jayson also caught the attention of two review centers, who offered him scholarships.
As a graduating criminology student, Jayson said every day is important for him to work as a delivery rider. He will continue working hard for his future.
"Mind over matter lang po. 'Wag n'yong iisipin na hindi n'yo kayang gawin 'yung mga bagay-bagay sa paligid n'yo. Isipin n'yo kaya n'yong gawin para malagpasan n'yo. Ang pagsubok, kayang-kaya lagpasan," he said.
("Mind over matter. Don't think that you cannot do something. Just think that you can do it and you will. All challenges can be overcome.")
