Technoblade, Minecraft YouTuber, dies following cancer diagnosis
Technoblade, an American YouTube creator known for his content on the 3D game Minecraft, died following his cancer diagnosis.
On July 1, Technoblade’s father addressed his over 10 million followers on YouTube.
“Hi, I’m Technoblade’s dad. He wrote a message and he asked me to read it to all of you,” the dad said on the video titled, “So long nerds.”
“‘Hello everyone, Technoblade here. If you’re watching this, I am dead,’” said the YouTuber, as read by his dad.
According to a ComicBook.com report, Technoblade was 23 years old.
In August 2021, Technoblade revealed that he was diagnosed with cancer.
The YouTuber, who said his real name was Alex, thanked his supporters, saying the money he got from merchandise sales would be going to his siblings’ college fund—if they wanted it.
“Well if they want to. I don’t want to put any dead brother peer pressure on them,” said the message read by his dad.
“Thank you all for supporting my content over the years,” he added.
“If I had another 100 lives I think I would choose to be Technoblade again every single time as those were the happiest years of my life.”
According to his dad, Technoblade wrote the message in his bed just eight hours before he passed away.
“He was the most amazing kid anyone could ever ask for. I miss Technoblade,” he said.
“Thank you to all of you for everything. You meant a lot to him.”
Since the announcement came out, Technoblade has become a trending topic, with over 900,000 tweets in the Philippines alone from fans mourning his loss.
“As we all believe, Technoblade never dies. We all will miss you deeply,” said one Twitter user.
“Rest in peace Alex. Go and topple governments in the sky for us. Technoblade never dies,” said another.
Technoblade’s family will continue running his online store and a portion of the proceeds will go to the Sarcoma Foundation of America. – RC, GMA News
