Woman in Cebu treats students with perfect exam score to free snacks in her sari-sari store

A 56-year old sari-sari store owner has a sweet motivation for her suki students: free snacks for the first 20 to get a perfect score in their exam.

Livy Gedoria is based in Barili, Cebu, and her customers are usually students of Bartolome and Manuela Pañares Memorial National High School.

According to a social media post by her daughter, Jessiel, the students call her mother “Nanay.” And like a mother to her children, Nanay Livy feeds students who are hungry and motivates them to study well.

“They call her ‘Nanay’ and as a mother who wishes the best for her children, she motivates them to do their best, especially in their studies. Whenever they visit our mini snack store, she would remind them to behave, listen to their teacher, study well, and be good students.”

Students who got perfect scores were happy to claim their free snacks, while those who got one or two mistakes were motivated to do better.

In an interview with GMA News Online, Nanay Livy shared that what's more important than a perfect exam score is that students understand the value of studying well for their own good.

“Sapat nang ginawa ninyo ang inyong makakaya, 'wag sobrang pahirapan ang sarili," she said. "Ang makapagpapasaya sa amin na mga magulang ay makita ang aming mga anak na nag-aaral nang mabuti at ang magkaroon ng magandang kinabukasan."
