Baguio resident saves P120K after filling water container with coins

A Baguio resident's post inspired fellow netizens to save money after he showed how much he saved after stashing coins in a water container.

In Kuya Kim's report on "24 Oras," Tuesday, Jino Saga said that his coin savings added up to P120,970.

"Ang iniipon ko lang po, 10 and 20s lang po. Nahihihrapan din pong makapag-ipon ng buo. Baka sa barya, mas madali pong makaipon," Jino said, adding that he plans to use the money for his and his partner's business.

The video he uploaded has already reached over 13 million views.

"Hindi po namin in-expect na magbu-boom po talaga siya. 'Yung purpose po ng video is to inspire people," Haidee Angel Gadiano said. "'Yung mga kapitbahay namin na may store dito pinapalitan na po nila."

They are planning to deposit the remaining coins at the bank.

Those who used the same saving method as Jino's may also have their coins counted through the coin deposit machines (CDMs) deployed by the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas in different malls.

After counting the coins, the machine will transfer the total amount to one's e-wallet account or can also be converted into shopping vouchers.

Most of the CDMs can be found in Metro Manila malls, but the BSP also plans to deploy more in other parts of the country.
