UFO-shaped cloud in Bohol catches curiosity of residents

A resident from Dauis, Bohol could not help but be curious after he spotted an odd-shaped cloud in the sky.

In Kuya Kim's report on "24 Oras," Thursday, Mark Kevin Bulawit said that the cloud he saw was also spinning.

"May nakita akong bilog na maputi. Parang ulap, may umiikot pa," he said.

Mark Kevin immediately showed the video to his brother, Junel Sumanduran.

"Nagulat din kami dahil ngayon lang kami nakakita ng ganun eh. Parang UFO ba," Junel said.

"Ulap talaga kung tingnan mo. Bilog siya tapos umikot-ikot," he said.

But when they went turned back so Junel could also see the cloud outside, they said it suddenly disappeared.

"Bigla lang nawala. Ako lang nakakita no'n," Mark Kevin said.

According to multimedia professional Jack Yo, the video Mark Kevin captured was not edited.

"It's real, very real. Hindi siya UFO. If it's kinompose together with the video, mahahalata naman siya. It's just a normal video na na-capture niya," he said.

Weather specialist Robert Badrina said that what Mark Kevin captured was probably a lenticular cloud based on its appearance.

Lenticular clouds are formed when there is an obstacle or barrier in the path of strong winds, such as mountains, hills, or buildings.

"Kapag meron kang hangin na dumaan sa bundok, ang tendency ng hangin, aangat siya. Kapag umangat, lumalamig, nabuo 'yung ulap," he said.

Because of their appearance, lenticular clouds are also called UFO clouds.
