Vlogger from Agusan del Norte wows audiences with tightrope walking skills
A man from Agusan del Norte has been impressing his viewers with his breathtaking stunts performed on a thin strand of wire.
Also known as "Boy Alambre," Edgar Sabado does his performances by balancing himself on a wire suspended mid-air.
According to Kuya Kim's report on "24 Oras," Tuesday, Edgar takes his stunts to another level by carrying 50-kilogram logs, making the performance more challenging.
"Matagal ko na pong natutuong tumulay sa alambre. Mga 12 or 13 years old," Edgar said in
Edgar also uploads his performance videos on social media.
"Bakit mo hindi pakita 'yung talento mo? Puwede kong i-vlog, entertainment daw," he said.
Since then, his stunts have started growing in popularity, with provinces inviting him over to fiesta celebrations.
"'Pag ini-imbita ako sa fiesta meron na ring binibigay sakin," he said.
Kuya Kim said Edgar's special skill is called tightrope walking or funambulism. It is done by balancing the center of the performer's mass.
"It depends on the distribution ng weight. Meron kasi tayong mga center sa brain, center for balance, 'yung sa kanya well-developed and kaya niyang i-distribute 'yung body weight niya sa manipis na tinatapakan o nilalakaran," Dr. Wesson Pious Espiritu said.
It also helps to use a pole or stretch out the arms whenever balancing.
There are two types of tightrope walking: tightwire and highwire.
Walking from Point A to Point B on a tensioned rope is called a tightwire, and when the tightwire is placed in a higher place, it is called a highwire.
Skywalk is an example of a highwire. This is done between two buildings, and sometimes between two mountains.
Edgar acknowledged that what he is doing is dangerous.
"Nung nahulog ako, nasa mga dalawang dipa mahigit, napilay 'yung kamay ko," he said. "Sa mga bata, 'wag lang gayahin basta-basta. Kailangan nasa tamang proseso po."
