Where did the Asoka makeup challenge start? Kuya Kim answers

If you’ve been online the past few weeks, then you have probably come across at least one entry in the viral Asoka makeup challenge.

According to Kuya Kim’s report on "24 Oras," Thursday, the Asoka makeup challenge, which showcases the rich and colorful Indian culture, was actually started by an Indonesian content creator.

The song being lip synced on the trend is an Indian song titled "San Sanana," which is from the 2001 Bollywood film "Asoka."

The film is also where the name of the trend is derived.

Among those who took on the trend was beauty content creator Lenie Aycardo, who admitted that it was really challenging for her and her fiancé, Hajie Alejandro, to finish filming for the challenge.

"Sobrang tagal mo syang shinu-shoot. More than eight hours," Lenie said, adding that it was all worth it because of the support the output received from users.

Her content has already reached 146 million views on TikTok.

Marian Rivera also hopped on the challenge and gave it a "Marimar" twist.

Ahtisa Manalo also joined the trend, showcasing her national costume for Miss Universe Philippines 2024. She used Angeline Quinto’s "Piliin Mo ang Pilipinas" as the background music.
