The social media accounts Miss Universe have issued conflicting statements on its host country for 2027.

In a Facebook post dated October 8, the Miss Universe Organization (MUO) announced that Vietnam had been selected to host the international beauty pageant next year.

The announcement identified Legacy Holding Group, S.A. de C.V., referred to as “MU East” under the Master Hemisphere Agreement, as the party responsible for selecting the host country and overseeing the competition's planning, development, production and execution for 2027.

“Vietnam’s breathtaking landscapes, rich cultural heritage and warm hospitality provide an inspiring setting for this global celebration. Bringing together delegates from countries and territories around the world, the competition will celebrate women’s confidence, leadership and individuality while showcasing Vietnam’s traditions, creativity and contemporary spirit,” it said.

The host city, venue and competition dates have yet to be announced.

But on Instagram, Miss Universe issued a separate statement disputing the announcement, saying Vietnam had not been designated as the host country for the 2027 competition.

“Consistent with Miss Universe tradition, the official host country will be announced at the conclusion of the Miss Universe 75 Final in San Juan, Puerto Rico,” the statement said.

The post also said the organization does not recognize “MU East” as a body, division, affiliate or authorized representative of Miss Universe.

“As we celebrate our historic 75th anniversary, the Organization remains committed to protecting the integrity, legacy, and global standing of the Miss Universe brand and to upholding the values and principles that have defined Miss Universe for generations.”

The statement on Instagram is also posted on the Miss Universe Organization website.

GMA News Online has reached out to Empire Philippines, the organization behind Miss Universe Philippines, for clarification on which of the conflicting statements will be followed by national pageant organizations.

Meanwhile, the upcoming Miss Universe competition is scheduled on November 24 at the Coliseo de Puerto Rico José Miguel Agrelot.

Reigning Miss Universe queen Fatima Bosch of Mexico will pass the crown to her successor.
