Meet the cast of 'The Play That Goes Wrong' in Manila
Filipino theater actor Mikkie Bradshaw-Volante is joining performers from the United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand and the United States for the Manila staging of the award-winning comedy “The Play That Goes Wrong.”
The production, presented by GMG Productions in arrangement with Mischief Worldwide Ltd., will run at The Theatre at Solaire in Parañaque City from November 6 to 22, 2026.
Bradshaw-Volante will play Sandra, a member of the fictional Cornley Drama Society who takes on the role of Florence Colleymoore in the group’s increasingly chaotic staging of a 1920s murder mystery.
She will be joined by Tom Babbage as Chris, Owen Jenkins as Robert, Sebastiano Pitruzzello as Max, Liam Horrigan as Jonathan, Tom Hayward as Dennis, Olivia Charalambous as Annie and Jake Curran as Trevor. Stephanie Astrid will serve as the female understudy, including for Sandra.
The production is directed by Hannah Sharkey, who previously served as resident director of the show’s West End production.
Bradshaw-Volante has more than a decade of professional theater experience. She made her stage debut as Liesl in Resorts World Manila’s production of “The Sound of Music” in 2011.
Her theater credits include “Fun Home,” “Kinky Boots,” “Beautiful: The Carole King Musical,” “Sweeney Todd” and “Saturday Night Fever the Musical,” which she performed in Manila, Malaysia and Singapore.
She also played Carrie Pipperidge in Repertory Philippines’ “Carousel,” earning a Gawad Buhay award for her performance. Her more recent credits include Theatre Group Asia’s “Into the Woods,” Repertory Philippines’ “Man of La Mancha” and Barefoot Theatre Collaborative’s “Anthropology.”
GMG Productions CEO and founder Carlos Candal said the company was proud to have Bradshaw-Volante at the center of the international cast, recalling her participation in its Filipino-led production of “Come From Away.”
“Bringing her together with world-class performers from Britain, Australia, New Zealand, and the United States is exactly what we set out to do when we founded GMG: to give Filipino audiences the chance to experience theatre at the highest level, with one of our own shining at its heart,” Candal said.
“The Play That Goes Wrong” follows the Cornley Drama Society as it attempts to stage “The Murder at Haversham Manor,” a 1920s murder mystery. However, the amateur company’s opening-night performance quickly unravels, with collapsing sets, missing props, missed cues and forgotten lines threatening to derail the show.
Created by Henry Lewis, Jonathan Sayer and Henry Shields of Mischief Theatre, the comedy won the 2015 Olivier Award for Best New Comedy and received a Tony Award following its Broadway transfer. It also won the 2014 WhatsOnStage Award for Best New Comedy.
According to its producers, the show has been performed in more than 50 countries since its early days at London’s Old Red Lion theater.
