Eunice Somintac replaces Elha Nympha as lead in 'Inday: The Musical'

Eunice Somintac has been cast as the titular role in “Inday: The Musical,” replacing Elha Nympha, who withdrew from the production a day before its opening.

In a Facebook post on Friday, Studio A Productions introduced Somintac as Inday, describing her as a singer, actress, and storyteller returning to the stage with a new role.

“Step into a world where forgotten memories come alive... And where time holds secrets that refuse to stay buried,” they said.

Somintac has appeared in films and television commercials before making her stage debut in the straight play “Bisita.” She later took on her first musical theater role as Haliya in “MAKARA: The Musical.”

On Thursday, Studio A Productions announced Elha's exit from the play just one day before the opening.

Saying they respected Elha's decision, Studio A said "our creative team is now making the necessary adjustments to bring Inday to life."

"We are fully committed to opening the show on the scheduled dates," it added as it thanked their sponsors, partners, and audiences for "their patience and continued support."

Following Elha's withdrawal from “Inday: The Musical” a day before its opening, the young singer's legal counsel issued a statement explaining her decision to leave the production.

In a statement shared on social media, Elha's lawyer, Carl Maria Vladimir Valera, said her withdrawal “follows material breaches of contract by the organizers, which made her continued participation impossible.”

The statement emphasized that Elha had been committed to the role but that “circumstances forced her to take this step.”

It added that “ongoing legal considerations” prevent them from providing further details at this time.

Featuring songs of Boyfriends, "Inday" is described as "a musical stage experience of love, family, and memories."

The show is slated to have a 6-show run for two weekends this October.
