A culture trip around Makati aboard a jeepney
By Barbara Marchadesch, GMA News
The City of Makati is introducing tourists to its rich history and culture by taking them on a ride around the city in a jeepney.
This is not your regular jeepney, of course; the fare is not P8 but P500, it seats 50, and it will take you five hours of air conditioned comfort to visit the city's most important cultural, historic and commercial spots.

MTFI's board of directors pose with the luxe, airconditioned jeepney used for the Soul of a City tour.
“Soul of a City,” as the tour is called, is the creation of the Makati Tourism Foundation Inc. (MTFI) to showcase Makati's heritage—to show visitors that beyond the posh shopping centers and the brisk trading floors of the business sector, there is a city that has been around for hundreds of years.
The tour will take passengers on a ride not just through Makati but through its history as well, “from old ruins to the modern era,” said E-Hotels chairman and MTFI trustee Dr. Elton See Tan.
Dr. Tan added that during the promo period (ongoing until further notice), they are offering a buy-one, take-one special: one P500 ticket for two people.
The jeepney will visit places of interest in the city such as the historic, 17th century Church of Saints Peter and Paul in Barangay Poblacion, the posh neighborhood of Forbes Park, the business district on Ayala Avenue, and the shopping hubs of Glorietta and Greenbelt.

Information about Makati as well as souvenirs are available at the MTFI Kiosk at the Glorietta Activity Center.
The foundation also inaugurated the MTFI Kiosk at the Glorietta Activity Center on Thursday.
The kiosk is an information center and souvenir shop, where tourists can find souvenirs, brochures and other promotional materials from the foundations’ members—mostly hotels, restaurants, travel agencies and retail stores—that provide information on the ins and outs of the city. —KG, GMA News
