LOOK: Marcos as Voltes V's Boazanian enemy in UP art installation

The usual Sunday crowd at the Diliman campus of University of the Philippines were greeted by a unique art installation at the steps of Palma Hall to commemorate the 42nd anniversary of the declaration of martial law.

The art installation depicted late strongman Ferdinand Marcos as a Boazanian Beast Fighter, a reference to the invading alien forces in the popular anime series Voltes V, which was famously banned during the martial law regime because of its revolutionary undertones.

The piece created by artist Toym Leon Imao, also put a twist on Fernando Amorsolo's famous "Marca Demonyo," featuring Michael the Archangel as Voltes V instead.

Also battling Marcos in the installation is a student activist wearing a t-shirt inscribed "'LEAN' AGAINST THE WALL" — a reference to student leader and UP alumnus Lean Alejandro.

Renowned wedding photographer Karl de Leon posted photos of the piece on his Instagram account. — JST, GMA News
