Calling all Hispanophiles! Asia's biggest Spanish Film Festival will be hitting Greenbelt 3 Cinemas from Oct. 9 to 19.
Titled “Pelicula-Pelikula,” this year's installment features over 20 films (19 feature-length works and five short films) ranging from romantic comedies to animated features to documentaries to dramas. On its 12th year running, the name “Pelicula-Pelikula” was chosen to emphasize the cultural ties between Spain and the Philippines.
Acclaimed Goya Award-winner director David Trueba will be putting in an appearance on October 10 at 7 p.m., for the screening of his “Vivir es fácil con los ojos cerrados” (2013). The film won six Goya Awards and is the Spanish entry at the Oscars this year.
Audience members will have a chance to choose a film for the Audience Choice Award by rating the films they have seen. Every five films watched qualifies an audience member to join the raffle, the grand prize of which is a round-trip ticket to Spain.
A selection of the films will then be traveling to Baguio, Iloilo, Zamboanga, and Davao, with the help of the Film Development Council of the Philippines.
Apart from the showcased films, there will be an exhibit fusing films and human interaction along the Greenbelt Fashion Walk from Oct. 10 to 18. Thanks in part to the Instituto Cervantes, “the exhibit will showcase a mirror display that will reflect various clips from the films. Shoppers will be encouraged to take a peek inside red boxes on tripods dispersed in the venue and view vignettes of the Spanish films,” according to the press release. — Vida Cruz/BM, GMA News
