PETA to close season with Children’s Arts Festival

The Philippine Educational Theater Association (PETA) will close its 47th theater season with its Children’s Arts Festival From May 29 to 31 at the PETA Theater Center on Eymard Drive in New Manila.

According to PETA in a press release, the 3-day festival will offer workshops in storytelling, shadow puppetry, visual arts, creative sound and music, creative drama, hip-hop dancing and creative writing, to be facilitated by its artist-teachers and members. Theater performances, film showings and play areas are also among the attractions.

At the festival, PETA will stage one of its longest-running musicals for children, “Mga Kuwento ni Lola Basyang,” and “Rated PG,” a musical that tackles corporal punishment. PETA ArtsZone's regional partners will also perform: “Aah Bakus” by Dumaguete-based YATTA; “Si Al Buda an Tsinelas” by Sining Banwa of Legazpi; and Ozamis' Teatro Guindegan’s “Istoryahe lang ta.”

 
Also part of the Children's Arts Festival are student performances from St. Gregory Elementary School, Las Piñas East National High School, Polo National High School, Tanghalang SLU, the FEU Theater Guild, Maria Montessori, and the Palo Culture and Arts Organization. — BM, GMA News
