One-night show ‘Mundong Entablado’ to raise funds for Philstage


Seven acclaimed theater artists will go onstage on September 1 to perform in "Mundong Entablado", a one-night show that aims to raise funds for the Philippine Legitimate Stage Artists Group (Philstage).

To be held at the 12 Monkeys Music Hall in Century City Mall, the show will be part of the venue's monthly cabaret. Bituin Escalante, Cris Villonco, Sweet Plantado, Nonie Buencamino, OJ Mariano, Kim Molina and Sandino Martin will perform songs from 11 contemporary Filipino musicals: Rock Supremo, Zsa Zsa Zaturnnah, Bituing Walang Ningning, Lorenzo, Noli Me Tangere, El Filibusterismo, Maxie the Musical, Kung Paano Ako Naging Leading Lady, Sa Wakas, Rizal X, Isang Panaginip na Fili, and Rak of Aegis

The show will be directed by Topper Fabregas. Ejay Yatco is the musical director.

According to the group in a press release, the funds raised at the event will go toward Philstage projects such as theater workshops, master classes, and the annual Gawad Buhay! Awards.

Philstage is the country's only organization of professional performing arts companies. Member companies include 9 Works Theatrical, Actor’s Actors Inc., Ballet Manila, Ballet Philippines, Full House Resorts World Manila, the Gantimpala Theater Foundation, the Philippine Ballet Theater, the Philippine Educational Theater Association, the Philippine Opera Company, Red Turnip Theater, Repertory Philippines, Tanghalang Pilipino, and the Triumphant People’s Evangelistic Theater Society (Trumpets). — BM, GMA News

“Mundong Entablado” starts at 9 p.m. on Tuesday, September 1, at 12 Monkeys Music Hall, Century City Mall, Kalayaan Avenue, Makati City. Tickets are priced at P1,000.
