PHL as preferred destination for outsourced animation services

According to ACPI president Juan Miguel del Rosario, “ACPI's aim is to promote the local animation industry globally with the intention of making the Philippines the preferred destination for outsourced animation services by large animation producers in North America and Europe, such as Disney TV, Universal Studios, Warner Bros, Rovio, Bento Box, Teletoon, among others.”

Currently, the Philippine animation Industry comprises of 50 SME animation studios employing a total of 10,000 artists and production specialists.

With 90 percent of North American animation services outsourced in Asia, the animation sector of the Philippine information and communications technology (ICT) Industry is set to grow robustly in the next three years.

Last year, the animation sector reported $142 million in total revenues.

From the entries in the local animation event, ACPI and other judges will pick entries for the international summit, which will feature the best animation content from Korea, Thailand, Australia, Malaysia, Singapore, and other countries of the world.

“The Philippine animation industry is vibrant, and we are ready to take on more business. We will do our share in making ourselves more visible, and hopefully, we could be more patronized by different countries all over the world,” said del Rosario.
