Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra to perform at NY's hallowed Carnegie Hall
The Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra (PPO) will be the first Filipino orchestra to perform at the hallowed Carnegie Hall in New York City.
The PPO will play on June 18 as part of the group's "MILESTONES: Celebrating the Filipino Spirit" USA concert tour.
The announcement was made through the Facebook account of the PPO's French conductor, Olivier Ochanine.

When he took the baton to lead the PPO in 2010, Ochanine vowed to bring the orchestra to Carnegie Hall. In his post, he admitted there were times he thought he have would break his promise.
"The journey to making this tour was tough, at times feeling like a dead end over and over, as the financial implications of bringing the orchestra to the US are considerable. However, some things are meant to happen, and I was convinced that this was one of those," he wrote.
The rest of the stops and soloists included in the tour will be announced soon.
In September, Ochanine announced that PPO's 2015-2016 concert season will be his sixth and last year as the orchestra's music director.
Ochanine recently won the first edition of the Antal Dorati International Conducting Competition in Budapest, Hungary held in November. —Trisha Macas/JST, GMA News
