Preparations for Sunday's Dinagyang Festival in Iloilo City are now in full swing, with world class performances expected to highlight the event, a report on Unang Balita on Friday said.

Security has been tightened by police in anticipation of the influx of visitors. Drone flying is prohibited.

The traffic plan has also been laid out by the police. Some roads near the venue of the street dancing competition and Ati tribe competition have been closed.

A stage has already been put up which will be used for the street dancing competition.

Ten groups will vie for the top prize in Sunday's Ati street dancing contest.

Among the visitors expected are eight foreign ambassadors who are interested to experience the "Dinagyang Fever."

The Dinagyang Festival is said to be the mother of all festivals in the Philippines.

From Thursday to Saturday, various activities have been lined up in preparation for Sunday's big event.

Among these activities are a music festival, fluvial parade bearing the image of the Sto. Niño, regional cultural competition participated in by representatives who took part in the Ati-Atihan Festival in Kalibo and Maskara Festival in Bacolod, fireworks display, and the Miss Iloilo Dinagyang 2016 pageant.
