Madonna dances with Philippine flag

Madonna seems bent on connecting with local audiences around the world by using their national symbols.

The Material Girl danced with the Philippine flag in tow during the first night of her concert in Manila on Wednesday.

Host Tim Yap posted a video of the segment, noting: "Madonna and the Philippine flag: Because today's a holiday, and what better way to celebrate than with Madge herself."

In another video taken by Grace Velasco from the first night of Madonna's concert in Manila, the Queen of Pop is seen draped in the Philippine flag. It then touches the floor as she sweeps her hand while dancing.

The segment caused a stir when she did it in Taiwan with an old Kuomintang flag, drawing outrage from Chinese and Taiwanese nationals.

Madonna has also wrapped herself in the flags of Hong Kong and Canada, among others, without drawing outrage or penalties.

While her Pinoy fans enjoyed the concert, the incident may be in violation of Section 34 of Republic Act 8491, which prohibits the wearing of the flag "in whole or in part as a costume or uniform."
