ASEAN films for free at Cinematheque Manila in March
March is ASEAN Film Awareness Month at the recently opened Cinematheque Centre Manila.
According to a statement from the Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP), films from nine countries belonging to the Association of Southeast Asian Nations—Brunei, Thailand, Myanmar, Indonesia, Vietnam, Singapore, Laos, Malaysia and the Philippines—will be screened from March 1 to April 3 at the Cinematheque Centre Manila at 855 T.M. Kalaw Street, Ermita, Manila.
According to the FDCP, the goal of an "ASEAN Film Awareness Month" is to build a Southeast Asian film community with "One Vision, One Identity, and One Community."
The films include a Thai comedy about a prince, an Indonesian coming-of-age story, an award-winning Singapore film about a homesick domestic helper, and a Malaysian horror movie.
Special outdoor screenings will be held on the weekends. There will also be special Q&A sessions with ASEAN and Filipino filmmakers.
