More of Michael Cinco’s pieces on the runway at Paris Fashion Week
Dubai-based fashion designer Michael Cinco on Sunday proudly became the first Filipino to present his collection at the celebrated Paris Fashion Week.
His 30-piece Fall 2016 collection featured couture and ready-to-wear pieces that used local materials, including the standout piece, a “couture barong-inspired and terno creation with ikat, banig and solihiya embroidery pattern made from micro beads.”
Cinco's “Banig and Solihiya” collection pieces are made by hand and embellished with pearls, sequins, and microbeads, while his “Calado” collection is inspired by the Spanish mantilla.
According to the Filipino designer in an interview for Gulf News last May, "Paris is the center of fashion and it’s the ultimate dream of every designer to show there. It has been mine since I started my career. I can’t believe that the federation chose me for their first ever show in Paris. This is such a big honor for me."
Paris Fashion Week presents collections from haute-couture houses and global fashion brands, including Chanel and Christian Dior.
The Couturissimo x Michael Cinco luxe couture line is now available to order online. According to a report by Cosmopolitan Philippines, some of the pieces are priced at P20,000—(slightly more) affordable couture. — Bianca Rose Dabu/BM, GMA News
