Director Brillante Mendoza makes a plea for ‘Ma’ Rosa’
Four days after opening locally, the movie that introduced Jaclyn Jose to the world and earned her the Best Actress award at the Cannes Film Festival might be pulled out of some theaters.
"I would like to personally thank everyone who watched our film Ma' Rosa. We are grateful [for] your support and positive reviews," the film's director Brillante Mendoza said on Facebook. "However, we are on a brink of being pulled out in some cinemas due to the lack of audience."
Mendoza urged the public to support the film, which is still being shown in select theaters.
In an earlier interview with Jessica Soho on GMA News' State of the Nation, Mendoza said that he hopes the critical acclaim that the film and Jose received will translate into box-office success.
