Kidapawan City to hold world record attempt for largest cha-cha dance
KIDAPAWAN CITY - The local government of Kidapawan City is confident the city will secure the Guinness World Record for largest group cha-cha, as various individuals and group organizations have committed to support by joining the event.
Mayor Joseph Evangelista said the City Tourism Office has already registered at least 12,000 participants, more than enough to smash the current world record of 3,379 participants set by the Edgefield Primary School and the Punggol North Community in Singapore in July 17, 2011.
The attempt will be held along the Cotabato-Davao stretch on August 30 as highlight of the city’s Kasadya sa Timpupo Festival.
Evangelista expressed his thanks to the public and private schools that will be sending representatives, following the tourism office's appealed for public participation.
“To achieve this goal we seek help from our local dance experts to make sure that the participants will be synchronous in dancing and follow correct cha-cha dance steps,” he said.
City Tourism Officer Joey Recemilla said all documents will be send to the Guinness after the big event.
“I would like to say thank you to all participants joining this event. Your photos and names will become part of Kidapawan history being participated in the Guiness World Record largest cha-cha dance,” Recemilla said. — BM, GMA News
