Journalist Jiggy Manicad launches ‘On the Edge’ at MIBF 2016

GMA News anchor and reporter Jiggy Manicad is on the spot at the National Book Store booth on Wednesday as he launches "On the Edge," a memoir birthed after a lifetime of news assignments. 

The book makes its debut at the Manila International Book Fair, with fans queuing for selfies and autographs.

Manicad shared with GMA News Online that the book took nearly 10 years to make, selecting 20 stories from two decades of service.

In the book, he shares the tale behind some award-winning reports he has done in his career. Manicad details his experiences in the Middle East, recounts the time the chopper he was in crashed, and the epic trip up Mount Everest.

Manicad was joined by his family during the book launch at the Manila International Book Fair 2016.

Manicad hopes that beyond the awe in some of the more dangerous assignments he has taken that the book inspires readers to see that a balance between career and personal life can be achieved. —KG, GMA News
