‘Doctor Strange’ IMAX 3D sneak peek enchants audiences

The Marvel Cinematic Universe will once again expand beyond the boundaries of human imagination as another well-known comic book superhero makes his long-awaited live-action debut on the big screen.

That character is Doctor Strange, the resident Sorcerer Supreme who safeguards our reality from dangers that revolve around the world of magic and mysticism. Directed by Scott Derrickson and starring Benedict Cumberbatch, the movie will explore Stephen Strange’s journey from egotistical neurosurgeon to hero and master of the mystic arts.

Presented by Walt Disney Philippines, Marvel Philippines, and SM Cinema, the special IMAX 3D sneak peek of "Doctor Strange" at the IMAX Theater in SM Megamall offered fans a taste of things to come with 15 minutes' worth of scenes straight from the film.

At the start of the sneak peek, we are introduced to Stephen Strange, a charming and brilliant neurosurgeon whohas a bit of an ego. That all changes when he carelessly gets into a car accident that damages his hands to the point where he cannot operate anymore.

The footage then jumps to Strange meeting the Ancient One, a mysterious teacher who completely turns the surgeon’s world upside down by showing him a taste of the mystic arts and a glimpse of a multiverse of different dimensions. Now discovering a new purpose and willing to learn the secrets of the magic arts, the audience is pulled into a world of sorcery, dark magic, and powers that warp reality and time itself, in what will certainly be a movie to look forward to!

"Doctor Strange" is one of the first films by Marvel Studios to take advantage of the IMAX film format and upscale it in ways that illuminate and bring to life magic and sorcery that literally “expand and open your mind” as worthy of a film that features the Sorcerer Supreme.

With just 15 minutes of footage shown, I can honestly say I am hyped for Doctor Strange and what it will bring to the table in establishing magic and mystery in the Marvel Cinematic Universe!

In addition to the sneak peek footage, fans were treated to the sight of a 1:1 scale statue of Doctor Strange outside of the IMAX Theater. Cosplayers dressed as the titular character and his mentor “The Ancient One” were also on hand to pose for photos with the guests and media. With just a few weeks to go before the film hits cinemas, it’s a good time to be a fan of all things related to superheroes and comic books. — BM, GMA News
