New Cardcaptor Sakura anime coming in 2018

Fans of Clamp’s 1998 magical girl anime series “Cardcaptor Sakura” are going to be happy to know that the cute and card-wielding heroine will return along with Kero and friends in a brand new anime called “Cardcaptor Sakura: Clear Card Arc”, which is set to premiere in 2018, exactly 20 years since the original anime aired in 1998.

CLAMP confirmed in the January issue of Kodansha’s Nakayoshi magazine that the sequel, which is based on the manga as well, is coming to NHK in January 2018.

Director Moria Asaka, who worked on the original 1998 anime series, returns to helm project. Sakura Tange will once again provide her amazing voice as titular hero Sakura Kinomoto, while Aya Hisakawa returns as Keroberos the flying magical companion. Other supporting characters like Tomoyo, Li Syaoran, and Yukito will also return, making this a magical reunion for those who fell in love with the franchise since the beginning.

With 2016 marking the 20th anniversary of the Cardcaptor Sakura manga, this is a great time to be a fan of the magical girl series. Set your calendars and clow card indicators to 2018! — BM, GMA News
