Ligligan Parul: Pampanga holds giant Christmas lantern festival

"My God, I hate drugs," declared one of the giant lanterns at the Ligligan Parul, Pampanga's competition for the country's best, biggest, glitziest Christmas parol.

Ten barangays participated in the annual festival in San Fernando, with Barangay Dolores taking the grand prize. The first runner-up was Brgy. Calulut, followed by Brgy. Sindalan as second runner-up.

Pampanga's artisans have become famous for their intricate displays of engineering wizardry over the years, with the parols' thousands of lights coordinated to blink along to music.

According to a report by Tricia Zafra on 24 Oras, each parol towered 20 feet high and consisted of at least 10,000 little lights.
