Alien freak in ‘Life’ movie sneak peek says hello

Move over Xenomorph! There’s a new alien in town, and it’s none too shy about giving us viewers a firm handshake!

Yeee-ouch!

What you just saw is an extended sneak peek of “Life,” an upcoming science fiction horror flick from the folks at Sony Pictures.

“Life” is about humanity’s first contact with an alien life form, which the six-member research team on the International Space Station finds on Mars. Of course, the historic event doesn’t go as smoothly as the crew hoped, with the creature proving a little too deadly for comfort.

Just how deadly? Well, according to the film’s official synopsis, the alien just so happens to be a “rapidly evolving life form that caused extinction on Mars, and now threatens the crew and all life on Earth.”

Maybe, as the movie’s tagline suggests, we were better off alone.

The extended clip shows Ariyon Bakare, as Unfortunate Scientist #3, conducting experiments on the organism, which is described as “all muscle, all brain.” But the “beautiful” creature doesn’t take too kindly to being poked and prodded in its nether regions, so it does the only thing any self-respecting extraterrestrial in its position would do: break the offending party’s bones!

Sony has been marketing “Life” for some time now. Early last month, the studio released the second trailer for the movie, which you can see below.

Like all good horror trailers, it doesn’t give too much away. While we do see the alien organism as a cute widdle baby, we only catch a glimpse of its “evolved” form.

“Life” stars Jake Gyllenhaal, Rebecca Ferguson, Olga Dihovichnaya, Ariyon Bakare, Hiroyuki Sanada, and Ryan Reynolds.

“Life” was directed by Daniel Espinosa, who is known for 2010’s Swedish thriller “Easy Money” and 2012’s “Safe House,” which starred Reynolds and Denzel Washington.

The story was penned by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, who wrote the “Deadpool” movie script. Dana Goldberg and David Ellison, alongside Julie Lynn and Bonnie Curtis, are serving as its producers. Its executive producers are Don Granger and Vicki Dee Rock.

“Life” comes to theaters this March 24. For more information about the movie, check out its official website. — BM, GMA News
