Beyond news, Cesar Apolinario also made mark as film director

Most viewers know Cesar Apolinario for his reporting for GMA News, as well as hosting public affairs programs including I-Juander.

But his talents extended behind the camera as well, with him taking the helm as a feature film director.

His debut feature "Banal" starred Christopher De Leon, Paolo Contis, and Alfred Vargas, and was an official entry to the 2007 Metro Manila Film Festival. He ended up winning the Best Director award at the Gabi ng Parangal.

He went on to direct the film "Puntod," which starred a young Barbie Forteza.

Upon news of Cesar's death on Friday at age 46, Barbie took to Instagram to pay tribute to one of her earliest mentors.

Hanggang sa muli," she wrote. —JST, GMA News
