On its 10th year, Malasimbo Music and Arts Festival gets a new home: The La Mesa Eco Park in Quezon City will be pulsating with beats, music, creativity, and more, on Feb. 29 to Mar 1.

There are a lot of exciting changes to look forward to. Allow us to name five.

1. Rock it in a rainforest

After nine years in Puerto Galera, festival producers Volume Entertainment decided to bring the festivities closer to the capital but amid nature, still.

According to Miro Grgic, Founder and Director at Malasimbo Music and Arts Festival, the new venue offers a better vibe and a different experience, that with lit up trees, cool surroundings, and art hanging all around — that's apart from the convenience of most guests who are hailing from Manila.

2. It's going to be family friendly

Streaking is so six years ago. This year, different family-oriented art and wellness programs will be held at the park’s Nara Grove Pavilion, swimming pool, and Drilon Orchidarium.

In case that sounds too, a little too wholesome, imagine this: sunrise and sunset sessions of yoga and dance, and journaling for the festival goers.

That's another kind of high, right?

3. Great sound and acoustics

Good, quality sound is a staple in every Malasimbo Festival, and this year is no different.

This year, the main stage will be at the La Mesa Eco Park’s amphitheater. Grgic, who also happens to be a sound engineer says, that this area has ideal outdoor acoustics that won’t compromise the quality of experience for both performers and attendees.

The 2020 music lineup will feature local and international performers headlined by Mike Love and Cory Henry and the Funk Apostles.

Local music artists include Brigada, Yosha, Moro Beats Collective, Tanikala, Project Yazz, Talata ni Tala and more to be announced.

4. The cool ‘silent disco’ experience

Almost synonymous to Malasimbo is the silent disco experience aka the silent rave, where guests can groove to music — on wireless headphones.

This year, the silent disco will be held under the shade of a hundred lit up trees at the Drilon Orchidarium at night.

With the silent disco, you can enjoy your choice of music. There will be three DJs on the decks, and you can seamlessly switch between the different music genres at the touch of a button on your headphones.

It might look weird for the onlookers, but chances are you’ll be enjoying your personally curated party to notice or care.

5. You can learn all about the music business

The Malasimbo ticket comes with a free pass to the Malasimbo Music Business Conference where music industry executives and music lovers can exchange conversations over panels and keynote sessions about all things music.

On top of all these, 10% of the ticket proceeds will go to Bantay Kalikasan. — LA, GMA News
