New drawing challenge dares you to find inspiration at home

Many of us are isolated at home to avoid the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), so a Filipina started a fun online drawing challenge.

To do the #WhatsInDaHouse challenge created by Netherlands-based artist JV Totañes Wiersema, you simply need to turn whatever you see at home into a work of art for 14 days, and share it with your friends and family who also "have nothing to draw."

In a video interview with Oscar Oida for "24 Oras," JV said she created the challenge "for everyone who are staying home to distract themselves from the stress from outside and appreciate what you have inside the house."

She also thinks it's a great idea to make art in this not-so-great chapter of our lives.

"You can sketch anything you want: You can sketch your dishes, you can sketch your food, you can sketch your clothes, your favorite clothes and share it on Instagram and Facebook," JV said.

"And then, maybe next year, we can look back on it and see how positive we are even though we are in a crisis," she added.

Netizens have been tagging each other to take part in various online challenges due to the COVID-19 enhanced community quarantine in several areas in the country.

It's the third week of enhanced community quarantine here in Luzon, and the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the Philippines have risen to 2,084, with 88 deaths. The number of recoveries, meanwhile, rose by seven to a total of 49.
