Michael V joins singers, musicians in tribute song for COVID-19 frontliners
Michael V has joined 38 other singers and nine musicians in recording a tribute song for the frontliners battling the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
The song, entitled "Dakila Ka, Bayani Ka," was written by Arnie Mendaros and arranged by Albert Tamayo.
In Nelson Canlas' report for "24 Oras," the Kapuso comedian said he readily accepted the invitation to be part of the project.
"Feeling ko wala akong magagawa against [COVID-19] from where I am. Kaya kong mag-record, kaya kong mag-send ng files pero 'yung tipong ginagawa ng mga frontliners di ko kaya," he said.

Mendaros said he was inspired to write the song after witnessing the heroism and sacrifices of the frontliners.
Posted on the Department of Education's official Facebook page and Tamayo's YouTube channel, the song aims to raise funds to help frontliners.
Other singers who recorded the song include Martin Nievera, Carol Banawa, and TJ Monteverde.
Education secretary Leonor Briones and musician Ricky Gonzales, who both survived COVID-19, also participated in the project.
"Nagkaroon ng impact at meaning 'yung kanta dahil talagang sila mismo na-experience nila 'yung kabayanihan at kadakilaan ng mga frontliners natin," Bitoy said of their contribution.

Gonzales was working in a cruise ship going around Asia when he tested positive for COVID-19 while in Yokohama, Japan.
"Hindi biro 'yung ginagawa nila, sinusugal nila 'yung buhay nila para sa iba," he said. "Oo totoo 'yun, kasi kahit infected ako talagang lumalapit sila sa akin pag may kailangan ako." --MGP, GMA News
