Nora Aunor breathes life to ‘Lola Doc’ in online monologue

Nora Aunor takes on the lead role in a special online production that pays tribute to the frontliners of the 2019 coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic.

The one and only Superstar plays “Lola Doc” in a monologue of the same name written by Carlos Palanca Memorial Awards for Literature Hall of Famer Layeta Bucoy.

In the 11-minute production, Aunor plays a senior frontliner who has a heart-to-heart chat with her grandchildren over a video call.

“Lola Doc” also tackles the importance of discipline during the pandemic and the grief of losing a loved one in the family.

It is a continuation of an earlier “monovlog” titled “Lolo Doc” that starred actor and Tanghalang Pilipino artistic director Nanding Josef.

The monologues are presented by Tanghalang Pilipino in cooperation with Voyage Studios as a special tribute to the brave frontliners risking their lives to fight the COVID-19 threat. – Margaret Claire Layug/RC, GMA News
