Jasmine Curtis-Smith stars in short film about the COVID-19 lockdown
Jasmine Curtis-Smith is starring in a short film that takes place during the COVID-19 lockdown.
“Until It’s Safe” follows two women as they navigate a long-distance relationship from different timezones amid the pandemic.
Jasmine just shared a trailer on Instagram, which gives us a first look at her scenes with gorgeous American co-star Ella Lentini.
“[It’s] a story about longing,” Jasmine shared in the caption of her post.
“I didn't think I'd be shooting anything under lockdown but here we are!” She added.
The Filipino actress was also grateful to be part of the production, which was led by director Samantha Lee and and cinematographer Michelle Kwong.
“Thank you Direk Sam and Ella for casting me in this special project,” Jasmine wrote.
“Two separate worlds and timezones amidst all that is going on, LOVE IS LOVE and let us allow it to fuel us in these times and ALWAYS in all ways,” she added with a rainbow emoji.
Just by the trailer, you can already tell Jasmine and Ella’s characters are going through a lot of things people under lockdown are experiencing.
A voice at the beginning asks: “Manila to Los Angeles feels lightyears apart, hence never at the same place at the same time. Are you saving light or saving time? Do I waste mine?”
In a video call, Ella’s character begs for Jasmine to put her out of her misery. Jasmine comforts her, saying: “It’s okay. We got this. We’re pros at this. like all the Facetime, the hot phone sex, the movie dates.”
Jasmine didn’t mention details about when and where “Until It’s Safe” will premiere, but Lee assured her Instagram followers that the movie was “coming soon.”
