Filipina hitmaker Beabadoobee drops new song ‘Care’

Meet Beabadoobee, a 20-year-old Filipina hitmaker from the UK, just released a new song called “Care,” the first track off her forthcoming full-length debut, "Fake It Flowers."

It comes with a retro-style music video, both harking back to the good old days of '90s alternative rock.

In a press statement, Bea said the song and the video are "pretty much me being angry at society, or people around me who I just don't think know me and don't care."

"I never expected to be making the first video from my album during a pandemic! I was so lucky to be locked down with the bedroom guys. It feels like its turned out as one of the most personal, real videos I've made."

She adds, "I'm so excited to share it!"

Beabadoobee, whose real name is Beatrice Kristi Laus, was born in the Philippines and grew up in the UK.

Making headways with songs like "Coffee" — which has since taken on a new life as a a sample on TikTok — and "If You Want To,"  the current toast of the music scene has already been nominated for the Rising Star Award at the 2020 Brit Awards.

She is also the only other Filipino artist aside from Inigo Pascual to perform in the lineup for 88Rising’s “Asia Rising Forever” festival held earlier this year, an online benefit concert aimed to raise money for the Asian Americans Advancing Justice (AAJC), an affiliation of Asian American civil rights organizations, in light of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic.
